Royal Caribbean Shipping
The worlds second largest and richest cruise line, Royal Caribbean International began its journey in the year 1969 .The idea suddenly struck to Arne Wilhelmsen and Edwin Stephan who wanted to get in on the rapidly expanding American market. After a short development period Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines was born. The line’s first venture Song of Norway entered service in the year 1970. Today it is a global vacation company that operates Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Pullmantur, Azamara Cruises and CDF Croisieres de France to a wide variety of middle to moderately high income passengers.
Over the past few years Royal Caribbean has been venturing larger ships offering mainstream, mass market, modestly upscale cruises on huge cruise ships. In 2006, the line introduced Freedom of the Seas, an enlarged, enhanced version of the Voyager-class design with new added amenities like a water park and onboard surfing. In 2009 Royal Caribbean launched its first 225,282 ton; 5,400 ton Oasis class ship named Oasis of the Seas will once again prove that Royal Caribbean is the biggest in the world.
After 20 years of focusing primarily on the Caribbean market company has expanded the itineraries to Bermuda, the Mexican Riviera, Alaska, Europe and Hawaii. Today the company has a combined total of 38 ships in service and six under construction with revenues in excess of $4 billion. It also offers unique land-tour vacations in Alaska, Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Canada, Dubai, Europe and South America.
