Char dham yatra
According to the sacred Hindu scriptures , the holy centres of Gangotri, Yamunotri,Badrinath and Kedarnath - collectively called the Chardham. The Char Dham, also called the Deo Bhumi.
Gangotri :- The sacred shrine of Gangotri is situated at an elevation of 3200 m from the sea level in the northern part of Uttarakhand. It is also called as the seat of Godess Ganga.The temples of shrine of Gangotri opens in the last week of april on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritya followed by special Puja and closes on the day of Diwali with the formal closing ceremony. It is consider to be the place where lord Shiva held Ganga in His locks. The shivlinga is visible only in winters. Now it attracts many sports lovers for adventure sports like trekking, river drafting etc.
Yamunotri :- The sacred shrine of Yamunotri, is the westernmost shrine in the Garhwal Himalayas. It is the source of river and is situated opposite Gangotri. It is famous for its thermal springs.The actual source of yamuna is a frozen lake of ice and glacier champasar at an altitude of 4421 mtrs which is not easily accessible. So the pilgrims offer their prayers at the temple which is located on the foot of the hill. The present temple was constructed in the nineteenth century by Maharani Gularia of Jaipur.
Badrinath : The shrine of Badrinath is situated in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand state at an altitude of 3133 m above the sea level on the right bank of river Alaknanda. It is guarded on either side by two mountains named Nar and Narain with a towering peak named Neelkanth at the backdrop.It is also known as Badri Vishal and is largest among five Badris.The gates of temple opens from April to November. Badrinath is also famous for its number of hot water pools name Tapt Kund , Narad Kund etc.
Kedarnath :- Kedarnath is situated in the state of Uttarakhand .It is located near the river Mandakini. Kedarnath is famous for its sacred several kunds which have there religious significance such as shivkund, Retkund, hanskund, Udakkund, Rudhirkund. There is a tample nearby the kedarnath named Bhaironathji who is worshiped at the opening and closing of the temples of Kedarnath.
How to reach
By Air :-
The nearest domestic airport is the Jolly Grant in Dehradun to reach chardham. Few small private airlines are also allowed to land at the airport.

By rail :- The nearest railheads are Rishikesh and Kotdwar. These are well connected to all the nearby tourist spots which includes Rishikesh, Haridwar, Kotdwar, Dehradun, as well as few hill spots of Garhwal and Kumaon region.
By Bus:- Haridwar is well connected via road with all the major destinations of India NH58 connects Haridwar to delhi on on hand and on the other hand Nh 72 connects it with Uttarakhand. There is also a good road connectivity between Haridwar and Rishikesh.
